Life Beyond A Diagnosis

Preggers – Chelsea Johnson (Book Review)

June 26, 2020 by Nicole 2 Comments

Probably the most unknown book I’ve read so far this year (with less than 10 ratings and even fewer reviews) Preggers by Chelsea Johnson is everything I was hoping for in a pregnancy book (plus some!).

Initially, I wasn’t too sure about this book, but as it progressed I am definitely a fan. The lists are extremely helpful and the book itself especially informative.

Preggers - Chelsea Johnson

Having read several pregnancy books already, I was prepared for a re-hashing of the same information I’ve read many times before – but Johnson managed to include information I’d never come across before (like avoiding wire bras) and the conversational tone kept me engaged.

It’s a shame this book isn’t better known because it’s full of information that’s not only valuable, it’s the kind of information you didn’t know you wanted to know – but feel better after you are aware of it.

Johnson is an excellent writer, and Preggers had the style of a novel but the information of a reference book – which is wonderful, especially since I fully expect to be referring to this book again when I get pregnant for the first time, and for every subsequent pregnancy after that (just for a refresher!).

In fact, if Johnson has written other pregnancy books, hand them over – I need to read them, stat!

Recommendation:

I would recommend this book to all moms-to-be, especially first time moms, and love that there is even a small section for husbands … so as you are reading this book, make sure to share that with him. Although the ever-popular Belly Laughs was good, Preggers knocks that book out of the water … so definitely give it a try, especially if you are on a pregnancy book reading binge (like me).

P.S.

Preggers is the kind of book you give a friend when they get pregnant. Friends, you’ve been forewarned 🙂 .
