When You Resent Trim Healthy Mama

Be it Trim Healthy Mama or another lifestyle/diet/plan altogether, it’s easy to grow to resent the plan or lifestyle for keeping you away from what your (off-plan) friends and family have.  

When You Resent Trim Healthy Mama

Of course, there are on-plan foods to “replace” most of the unhealthy foods that we crave, but any person who has been on-plan can tell you that the alternatives are not the same. They are often good, but not the same. 

If you are someone who cannot stand the unique texture many Trim Healthy Mama or other healthy sweets tend to have, or who cannot eat the on-plan sweeteners, it’s even harder. 

All of that to say, it’s easy to grow to resent your lifestyle choices – even when you chose them. It’s easy to fall off the wagon, or forget how much the plan has helped you, or ignore how easily the weight comes back when you eat the standard American diet. 

Fighting Back Against Resentment:

So, what do you do when you start to resent your chosen lifestyle or diet or eating plan?

First, remember you (most likely) chose to eat this way. Although you might not have chosen it unless you had a weight problem or another issue to work on, it wasn’t forced upon you. You could choose the weight problem instead.

Now, with that out of the way, here are a few ways I’m fighting the resentment I’m struggling with. 

  • Trim Healthy Mama has an amazing, thriving, online community. Reach out!
  • Get with other Trim Healthy Mamas (this could be virtual for now) or find a coach to help you through it.
  • Work on your mindset. This was (probably) a choice.
  • When you are feeling particularly upset with the foods you are “missing out” on, make a substitute, a nice crossover, or a dessert you’ve been wanting to try and enjoy! Don’t go overboard, but have a serving and remember how wonderful you originally thought this plan was.
